Do not use tap water it will eat your coin and tooth paste will do the same thing.

Honestly, your constitutional silver is bought even by dealers at melt value unless it has some sort of numismatic value. Bullion is bought at spot or above spot based on who is buying and selling and what the price of silver is. Constitutional is 90, 40 and 35 percent and never changes unless you are scraping it for pieces and change the weight of the coin. If it is silver it retains its value polished or not. Bullion and rounds etc still retain their silver value. Nothing changes that. It's worth what it's worth. A numismatic coin is a different "animal " all together. Someone may try to ding you about it. But, if it weighs what it is supposed to and it's diameter measures what it's supposed to. You'll still get your money. Besides, silver will tarnish back anyway, even if you put a little wax on it. It will eventually tarnish.

Great video! I think I've heard one time too many that you shouldn't polish rare coins because it will ruin them. So I'm going to do it. I have a nice MS-63 Morgan and it's gonna happen today. :D

I feel you. I have a great many sidewalks over the years with never having a problem. It might be because the sidewalks where I hunt are usually not in the front of a home or business but are usually blocked from view with brick/stone walls or tall shrubs. There are a lot of people out there that do not understood what our hobby is all about. Some are just green with envy because we are doing what they have always wanted to do. One thing to remember is to always respond professionally when approached by a citizen or officer of the court. Our hobby is already trying to shed some of the negative views toward us. Fair warning, don't use this on old or expensive coins if you want to sell them to collectors! it will ruin their collector's value. Only do this for jewelry or aesthetic purposes.

Im new to what goes on with collecting old coins. IMO what you did makes the coin look great! But doing this to a valuable coin ruins it? I can't comprehend the reason for this.
